The Sons of the Revolution in the State of North Carolina (SRNC) and Central Piedmont Community College, the General Wm. Lee Davidson Patriotic Scholarship Award intends to increase the knowledge of the American Revolution in North Carolina and its impact in American History.

The General Wm. Lee Davidson Patriotic Scholarship Award is a one-time scholarship award of $500 or more that may be used only at Central Piedmont and will be applied toward tuition and required fees first and may be used at the college bookstore for required textbooks if tuition/fees are already paid or will be paid from other financial aid sources.

To be considered for the General Wm. Lee Davidson Patriotic Scholarship Award, an applicant must:

1. Currently be enrolled as a Central Piedmont student or a high school student.

2. Complete the Central Piedmont General Scholarship Application and then apply for the General Wm. Lee Davidson Patriotic Scholarship Award by May 1 of each year.

3. Submit a full academic paper of approximately 4-6 pages dealing with the impact and importance of North Carolina History in the context of Colonial through the Revolutionary Era (1770-1783). A list of suggested topics is provided. A minimum of five sources are required, including primary documents.

4. The completed paper is submitted to: Central Piedmont, Attn: Dr. Hugh Dussek, Cato Campus, P.O. Box 35009, Charlotte, NC 28235, hugh.dussek@cpcc.edu by May 15 of the entry year.

The submitted papers are reviewed by a committee and an awardee selected. The award is presented at the Annual Chartering Dinner of the General Wm. Lee Davidson Chapter of the SRNC. The awardee is asked to give a brief (10-15 minutes) synopsis of the paper/research. The award is disbursed through the Central Piedmont Foundation.
